Agitated Thin Film Evaporator / Wiped Film Evaporator

The Agitated Thin Film Evaporator (ATFE), also known as Thin Film Evaporator (TFE) or Wiped Film Evaporator (WFE), is an advanced system for efficient evaporation and separation. It features a jacketed shell with a precision-machined inner surface and a high-speed rotor with blades that evenly agitate a thin liquid film on the heated wall.

How It Works:

  • Feed Distribution: The liquid is distributed as a thin film across the heated surface.
  • Agitation: The rotor ensures uniform heat transfer, enhances evaporation, and prevents
    fouling.
  • Vapor Flow: Vapours flow counter-currently and are purified using an integrated entrainment separator.

Operating Principles

  1. Thin Film Formation: The feed distributor spreads the liquid uniformly as a thin film over the heated inner wall.
  2. Agitation: The rotor rapidly agitates the film, enhancing heat transfer and evaporation while preventing fouling.
  3. Counter-Current Vapor Flow: Vapours rise against the downward liquid flow, increasing separation efficiency.
  4. Entrained Vapor Separation: An integrated entrainment separator ensures purified vapours for high product quality.

Applications:

  • Food Processing: Concentration of juices and delicate products.
  • Chemical Industry: Separation of heat-sensitive substances.
  • Petrochemicals: Purification of oils and waxes.

Key Benefits:

  • High Efficiency: Faster evaporation with uniform heat transfer.
  • Gentle Processing: Minimal thermal degradation, ideal for sensitive materials.
  • Versatile: Suitable for a wide range of viscosities and materials.
  • Compact Design: Space-saving and energy-efficient.
